Executive Director Job Posting

Norman Youth Soccer Association (NYSA)/Oklahoma Celtic Football Club is accepting applications for its Executive Director position with a target start date as early as December 1, 2024. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Job purpose

The Executive Director will oversee the strategic direction, administration, and daily operations of Norman Youth Soccer Association/Oklahoma Celtic Football Club (NYSA/OCFC). Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role involves managing all aspects of the club's programs, including recreational soccer, youth academy, competitive teams, referee coordination, collegiate placement, complex maintenance, and coaching education. The Executive Director will lead a team of program directors, ensure alignment with the club’s mission, and work to enhance the quality and reputation of our programs locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to advance the club’s mission and ensure long-term sustainability.

  • Lead and mentor a team of program directors, including Boys’ Director, Girls’ Director, Recreational Director, Goalkeeper Director, Referee Director, and Complex Director.

  • Inspire a shared vision throughout the club, aligning programs and staff with the organization’s goals.

Program Oversight and Development

  • Manage and support the administration of the club’s programs, including recreational soccer, youth academy, and competitive teams (ECNL-RL and OPL-Elite).

  • Oversee the design and implementation of coaching education initiatives and development programs to ensure coaching quality and player development.

  • Coordinate and support the annual tryout processes, master training schedules, and player registration.

Operations and Facility Management

  • Ensure the effective maintenance and operation of the Gillis-Rother Soccer Complex.

  • Recruit and hire all technical and administrative staff, in conjunction with appropriate program Directors and Board of Directors as applicable.

  • Establish and streamline employment and administrative policies and procedures for all club functions and day-to day operations.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson of NYSA/OCFC, fostering strong relationships with players, parents, coaches, partners, and the local community.

  • Collaborate with local government, community leaders, and club partners to enhance the club’s visibility and impact.

  • Promote the club’s programs and initiatives to strengthen brand awareness and community support.

Business Development and Financial Management

  • Identify and secure new revenue streams through sponsorships, fundraising, partnerships, and events.

  • Create and manage the club's budget, ensuring financial resources are used effectively to support growth and sustainability.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to set financial goals and monitor progress.

Required

  • 1-5 years of experience as a Director or Executive Director, preferably in a youth soccer or sports management setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain a strong coaching team.

  • Strong understanding of the youth soccer landscape, both locally and nationally.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with players, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.

  • Proven organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with local club soccer dynamics and strong connections with leaders in the soccer community.

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Director or Executive Director, preferably in a youth soccer or sports management setting.

  • 10+ years of high-level youth soccer coaching experience.

Famous Alums

Yazmeen Ryan - Ryan grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and led Norman North to their first-ever soccer state championship. Ryan was part of Oklahoma Celtic 97’s and went on to play college soccer at Texas Christain University and also represented the US Youth National team. She was drafted 6th overall in the NWSL draft in 2021 by the Portland Thorns. In 2023, she was traded to Gotham FC. She has won the NWSL Championship twice, once with Thorns FC and once with Gotham FC.

Mauro Cichero—Mauro was born in Venezuela and grew up in Spain before moving back to Norman, Oklahoma, with his father in 2011. He attended Norman North High School and played for the Oklahoma Celtic 95s and 96s. Mauro was named Oklahoma Boys Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. After high school, he played college soccer at Southern Methodist University. Cichero was a standout performer for SMU and was selected 29th overall in FC Dallas's 2018 MLS Super draft. He has played for Oklahoma Energy and Charleston Battery and currently plays for Forward Maddison in USL League One.

Dominic Cervi - Cervi grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and played for Oklahoma Celtic 86’s. A Norman North High School graduate, Cervi attended the University of Tulsa, marking 31 starts for the Golden Hurricanes. Cervi was drafted 12th overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2008 MLS Super Draft. In October 2008, Cervi joined Celtic FC in Scotland and played against Manchester United Reserves. Cervi was named to the US U21 World Cup qualifying team in 2008. He was also called to the US U23 team for the 2008 Concaf men’s Olympic tournament. In 2010, he was named in the US men’s national team that defeated South Africa on November 17

Kalen Ryden - Kalen grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and played for Oklahoma Celtic 91’s. After he graduated from Norman North High School, he attended ORU from 2009 - 2010. He made 35 appearances for the Golden Eagles. In 2012, he transferred to Midwestern State University, after he red shirted his first year he made 28 appearances. In January 2015, he was selected in the 4th round of the MLS Super Draft by Colombus Crew SC. Kalen has played for Oklahoma City Energy, Jacksonville Armada, and Real Monarchs, and he is currently playing for New Mexico United. Ryden is the franchise player and captain for New Mexico United, and in 2020, he was named Defensive Player of the Year.
